    • RENA MARIE BERRY
PORTLAND -- Rena Marie (LeBlanc) Berry, 92, formerly of Madison, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in Portland. She was a lifelong resident of Madison until her health declined and she moved to the Inn at Village Square, an assisted living center in Gorham, and then to the Barron Center nursing home in Portland.
She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Madison, one of 10 children of Maxime and Emma (O'Brien) LeBlanc, of Madison. She attended Madison schools and was a communicant of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Madison for decades. In her early years, she worked at Colby-Sawyer Junior College in New Hampshire; was employed by the Catholic Church, working for the Rev. Clement Fraizer, in Madison; and was a cook at the Sunset Home in Waterville for many years. She was an avid knitter, card player and a member of Red Sox Nation.
First and foremost, she devoted herself to being a housewife, mother and caretaker of other family members in need. She gave generously of herself, was highly regarded and will be greatly missed.
She married Benjamin N. Berry, of North Anson, and they had one son, Clement. Her beloved husband passed away in 1959, and she is survived by her son, Clement M. Berry, and his wife, Deborah, of Scarborough. She is also survived by three to four generations of nieces and nephews. She is survived by many friends she considered as family. She was predeceased by eight brothers, Alex, Dedus, Frank, George, Arthur, Maxime, Leo and Norman LeBlanc; and two sisters, Anna Bolduc and Eva Daigle.
Visiting hours took place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison. A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. today, Nov. 16, at St. Sebastian Church in Madison, with the Rev. John Mazzei officiating, followed by interment at Sunset Cemetery in North Anson.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute in Rena's memory to the Barron Resident Activity Fund, 1145 Brighton Ave., Portland, ME 04102.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Giberson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
